Objectives for Students - To identify and interpret the local economic picture

Placement in Curriculum/Subject Areas - History, Geography, Social Studies, and Economics.

Organization of Classes - Small groups

Materials Needed - None

Radio Activity -  Discuss the lifestyles of various workers heard on the radio program. How has the area changed?

Label a map with the various centers of industry. How does the geography and distribution of natural resources of southeastern Ohio contribute to the development of these industries?

Interview Activity - Interview a variety of workers from local industries.

Additional Activities - Visit the sites of local industries. Look for locally produced items in your home.

Assessment of Student Performance - Teacher judgment of classroom participation.
