Mandi teaches Media Analysis and Criticism, Media for Social Change as well as courses in the Communication and Development Studies program including HIV and AIDS in Africa, Media Systems in Africa, Women in African Development, Health Communication Program Evaluation and online courses through Ohio University Without Boundaries (OUWB).

Mandi directs Ohio University’s HIV/AIDS Study Abroad Program in Botswana, a field learning experience that brings together various partners including the University of Botswana and several organizations including Population Services International-Botswana, Makgabaneng, Botswana Network of Ethics Law and HIV/AIDS, LifeLine-Botswana, Botswana Christian AIDS Intervention Programme, and Botswana Network of AIDS Service Organizations.

Mandi’s research interests include communication and development, media for social change, media, gender, and health with an emphasis on HIV and AIDS in Africa. She has researched the use and effectiveness of mass media in addressing HIV and AIDS in Zimbabwe. She has published on the issue of HIV and AIDS.
