Graduate Admissions & Financial Aid
Admission Requirements
Graduate admission is only for fall quarter of each academic year. International Applicants must submit
materials by December 31 and Domestic Applicants must submit materials by January 31 for full consideration.
Incomplete applications will not be considered. Late applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis
until program openings are full.
Submission Procedure

An application for graduate study at Ohio University, (which can be downloaded from Ohio University's
web site here) must be sent, with the appropriate
fee to: McKee House, 44 University Terrace, Ohio University, Athens, OH 45701-2979.

The following must also be sent to OGS at the above address:
- Application (online or paper copy)
- Original/official transcripts of previous academic work
- Score on either the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or the Miller's Analogies Test (MAT)
- Financial Documents
- International students must also submit their TOEFL scores

The following must be sent to the School of Media Arts and Studies:
- A copy of the application
- A statement of intent
- A Vita/Resume
- Three letters of recommendation
Application Screenings
Applications will be initially screen by the School of Media Arts and Studies' graduate director to determine
if the minimum requirements for admission to the program have been met. These requirements include: a minimum 3.0
GPA on a 4.0 scale, submitted scores for the GRE or MAT and all international students must submit the TOEFL scores.
Our minimum TOEFL score is 600.
The final screening is done by the graduate committee which ranks qualified candidates based on academic record,
professional experience, and recommendations.
Graduate Assistantships
Graduate Assistantships are awarded based on academic record, professional experience, recommendations and current
needs of the School of Media Arts and Studies. Masters students selected for GA positions are funded at $11,700 and
receive full tuition waiver for one academic year (Fall, Winter and Spring Quarters). Doctoral students selected for
GA positions are funded $12,700 and receive full tuition waiver for three academic years (Fall, Winter and Spring
Quarters). All GAs are required to work 15 hours in exchange for the stipend and full tuition waiver.
