Students’ Animated Short Gets Accepted into Athens Film Festival
The animated short, titled 'Nutrition: with Herbert J. Wafflecone', will be screened in the Athen’s Film Festival this April. Four Digital Media Majors, Aaron Missler, Josh Beebe, Adam Miller, and Adrian Alexis created the animated short. The short, which was written by Beebe and Missler, tells the story of an ice cream cone that is asked by the U.S. Government to make an educational film teaching how to avoid America's growing problem of preventable diseases. “Everything is going fine until Herbert [the ice cream cone] realizes that Ice Cream is a part of the sweets group and vows to put an end to ice cream consumption,” explained Missler. Missler and Beebe finished the script at the end of January, and the students began preproduction Winter Quarter. “Six nights every week for that month we would spend 8 to 12 hours working on voice recording, drawing, animating and editing,” said Missler, who also directed the short. The four students are the only group of Ohio University undergraduates to be accepted into the festival. “There has been much celebration and now we're completely ready to do more works, even bigger and better than before,” said Missler. The Athens Film Festival is on April 25 at 5:00 PM in the Athena Cinema on Court Street.
