Internships
MDIA 390 On-Campus Practicum
TCOM students may earn academic credit for their involvement with certain extra-curricular activities. Practicum credit
is available for the WOUB Center for Public Media training program, ACTV-7,
the All Campus Radio Network (ACRN), AVW Productions, and the dorm stations: WLHD,
WNWG and WSGR. The TCOM 390 instructor may also approve other experiences for credit. Each student's academic advisor
can provide more specific information about the on-campus practicum.
MDIA 391 Off-Campus Practicum
TCOM majors have the opportunity to gain professional experience with an off-campus media organization through the TCOM
391 Practicum. Students earn one hour of credit for a minimum of 40 hours of work. The hours may be concentrated in one
or two weeks, or may be spread over a longer period, such as over winter break. Each student's academic advisor can provide
more information about the off-campus practicum.
MDIA 490 Internship
An internship is a structured work experience in which a third-quarter junior or senior works full-time as a staff member
in a professional telecommunications organization for 11 weeks (40 hours per week). The School has established specific
internship qualification criteria which may be obtained from an academic advisor.
